  • Anatomy and Kinesiology

  • Injury assessment of athletes

  • Manage immediate injury on the field

  • Recognize the criteria for return to sports

  • Design re-conditioning training

  • Design injury prevention exercise

You will also learn how to:

  1. Evaluate acute injury, offer suitable acute care and refer injured athletes to suitable personnel

  2. Offer injury prevention fitness training to reduce the risk of getting injuried

  3. Prepare athletes for their games and training in terms of tapping and massage

  4. Design return to sport exercise training for injured athletes

2026 Course Update: Fundamental & Advanced Levels Combined

To enhance the learning experience and streamline progression, the Fundamental (初級) and Advanced (進階) levels of the Sports Trainer Course will be merged into a single comprehensive program.

About the Previous Levels:

Fundamental Level (初級課程)
Provided essential foundational knowledge and basic skills required for supporting safe sporting events.

Advanced Level (進階課程)
Built upon the Fundamental Level by further developing participants’ abilities in preventing and managing injuries and illnesses related to sport and physical activity.

Why We Combined the Levels

By combining both levels, the updated course now provides comprehensive coverage of foundational and advanced competencies, enhancing participants’ readiness to support safer sporting events and organizations. This unified structure ensures complete and continuous training from basic principles to advanced practices all within one enhanced course.

The Sports Trainer course is organized by the Department of Orthropaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (香港中文大學醫學院矯形外科及創傷學系) and Sports Medicine and Sports Science Association of Hong Kong, China (中國香港運動醫學及科學學會).

 

DISCLAIMER

This program aims to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge in sports medicine, sports injury management & prevention. To become certified in providing definitive treatment for sports injury, one needs to be a registered physiotherapist, medical doctors, or other approved medical personnel.

 

With effect from 13 Jun 2015, the two courses offered by us have changed their names to "Sports Trainer Course Fundamental Level / Advanced Level – Sports Injury Management & Prevention". This title change is being instituted for convenience of the administration process. Despite the change of course title, our course structure and content remained the same.
